教学过程：
Step I Warming up
Let the students review. Get the students to work out some math questions.
Step II Lead-in
T: What is it? Ss: It is a bird/horse/cat.
T: Do you like animals?
Ss: Yes!
T: OK! Let’s go to the zoo!
Show the topic on the blackboard. Translate it into Chinese. Read the word zoo for the students to repeat.
Step III Presentation1
Show some pictures of animals on the blackboard.
Introduce the words monkey, lion, elephant, tiger. Read the words three times for the students to repeat. Ask two students to read them individually each word for once. Then read together. Give a little time to remember the words.
Step IV Practice
T: What other animals do you know?
Get some students to say the English names of the animals they know.
Step V Presentation
Get the students to look at the pictures. Ask, What is the …doing?
Help the students to answer. Write down the answers. Read the questions and answers for them to repeat. Let the students read the answers together. Again, get them to look at the lion to think “How does the lion feel?” Help them to answ “The lion feels /is lonely.” Teach the word lonely. Ask the students to make up sentences with it.
Step VI Practice
Ask and answer in pairs like this:
S1: What’s this?
S2: It’s a monkey.
S1: What is the monkey doing?
S2: It is eating bananas.
Ask some pairs to practice in front of the class.
Step VII Summary
Get the students to think what they learned this lesson.
